MOOG® adds rust preventative coating
MOOG® has added a highly sophisticated, OE-preferred rust-preventive coating to all MOOG® sheet metal wishbones and control arms.
The new cataphoresis coating significantly outperforms the electrostatic spray painting technology used by many aftermarket suppliers, ensuring superior resistance to corrosion following product installation.
Cataphoresis technology includes a highly effective pre-treatment of the component prior to the special coating process. The part is immersed in a bath of electrically charged paint that covers all surfaces – inner and outer – with a consistent coating. The part is then baked at a high temperature to ensure superior bonding and coating strength. The result is an ideal adhesion of the paint that protects the part in an optimal manner.
The electrostatic spray painting method commonly used by other aftermarket chassis suppliers is, in many cases, no longer accepted by OEMs for exterior components because it cannot protect the components following their standards.
In a separate development Federal-Mogul Aftermarket U.K. Limited has extended its OE-quality MOOG®® steering and suspension components range in the popular MAM Autocat+ online cataloguing system.
MOOG®’s product range covers up to 96% of the European vehicle parc and is supported with isometric exploded drawings unique to the brand, which helps users identify the correct part quickly.
Thousands of Federal-Mogul’s isometric exploded drawings, used in the MOOG® printed catalogue, have been loaded to the Autocat+ system with links to the relevant vehicle and parts. This means that Autocat+ users can, with one click, bring up a detailed drawing of the vehicle system and identify the correct part.
The company has been working closely with data specialist Elcome and MAM to implement the MOOG® offering on the newest version of the catalogue. The result is simplification of parts choice with more easy-to-use information to help locate the correct component. Federal-Mogul is also continuing to strengthen its data content in Autocat+ for its other aftermarket brands, including Ferodo® and Champion®.
