Cummins acquires battery specialist Brammo

Cummins, the manufacturer of heavy-duty diesel engines, recently unveiled a new prototype electric truck. It has now gone further towards electrification by acquiring Brammo, which develops electric drivetrains and battery packs. Brammo was founded in 2002 to build electric motorcycles. It made high-profile news recently by developing a 1,100-pound battery pack for for an electric helicopter. The acquisition of Brammo gives a clear indication that Cummins has plans to turn electric trucks from concepts to reality.
