Subaru wins ‘Best Manufacturer For Safety Features in 2019’

Subaru has been voted 'Best Manufacturer for Safety Features' in the '2019 Driver Power Survey', the UK’s number one car ownership survey. Beating off stiff competition from 29 other manufacturers to take the no.1 spot, all three Subaru SUVs were rated highly for safety features, with the Outback coming 11th out of 100 cars for safety, XV fifth and the Forester finishing second in this field. Steve Fowler, Auto Express editor-in-chief said: “Subaru has long been known as a maker of tough, well-built, all-wheel drive models. More recently, Subaru has placed its EyeSight system at the heart of its model...

Range Rover Evoque to comply to stricter RDE2 emissions tests

Range Rover tells us that their new Evoque has become the first luxury compact SUV to be certified under stringent new NOx emissions targets, ‘Real Driving Emissions’ stage 2 (RDE2), ahead of the official legislative introduction for new models in January 2020. All Jaguar and Land Rover models already meet the standards required by the first phase of the Real Driving Emissions (RDE) testing procedure, which came into effect in September 2018. UK in pole position in £62 billion self-driving car race – if BREXIT roadblock removed

The UK claims to be in pole position in the global race to market for connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs), with a £62 billion boost to the UK economy by 2030 up for grabs, according to a major new report published today by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) and Frost & Sullivan. Conti to expand timing belt and water pump range

The debate continues: Should you also replace the water pump when changing the timing belt or not? It would therefore be irresponsible towards the customer not to change the wear parts at the same time and risk more fitting work – and therefore additional costs – if the water pump fails. With its kits, Continental makes it easy for workshops to change everything in one go. Because they contain all the...

Injecting Some Sense

Developments in automotive technology, driven mainly by emission legislation, have challenged not only the way we approach problems but also how we run, market and develop our skills and invest in what has become a complex, lucrative and rewarding industry. Caution V Common sense.

Diagnostics by nature can be quite repetitive, and I’m tempted to say boring; the obvious danger is omission or complacency in your process. The next technical era

I was tempted to call this feature new technology, it is however not all that new. What’s remarkable is the way in which the chosen technologies are fully integrated, even in vehicles of a more modest price range.
