Blue Print Brake Caliper Fitment Guide (Handbrake Mechanism Type)

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE FITMENT

Blue Print brake calipers are supplied pre-set to fit with new brake pads and discs without adjustment. If disc or pad wear has taken place (or the piston is retracted during fitment),

MANUALLY ADJUST THE PISTON TO WITHIN 1MM OF THE PADS.

If the piston is forced to adjust further than 1mm using brake pedal pressure alone, the self-adjuster mechanism may not be able to keep up with a long piston movement and suffer permanent damage (preventing self adjustment during normal operation).

Caliper failures resulting from incorrect installation or adjustment will not be warranted by Blue Print.

REMEMBER — FINAL ADJUSTMENT

1) DO NOT OPERATE HANDBRAKE LEVER UNTIL THE CALIPER IS INSTALLED

2) DO NOT OVER-RETRACT THE PISTON INTO THE CALIPER – This may lock the adjuster

3) DO ADJUST THE CALIPER TO WITHIN 1MM OF THE PADS BEFORE OPERATING THE FOOT BRAKE To

prevent adjuster damage.

• Screw Type Piston (1) – Wind the piston OUT by turning the piston anticlockwise. The caliper may need to

be swung clear of the disc each time to gain access to the slotted end on the piston.

• Manual Bolt type (2) – Remove the capping bolt (A) and adjust the piston (B) to within 1mm using the hex

bolt inside.

• Self Adjusting Type (3) – As no manual adjustment is possible on this caliper, ensure attention is paid to

point 4.

4) ALWAYS MAKE THE FINAL ADJUSTMENT USING LIGHT BRAKE PEDAL PRESSURE WHILE REPEATEDLY

OPERATING THE HANDBRAKE LEVER

• E.g. Depress the pedal with light foot pressure whilst operating the handbrake lever at least three times.

Caliper failures resulting from incorrect installation or adjustment will not be warranted by Blue Print.
