Damage Diagnostics on Chain Drives

Elongated Chain
Cause:
- Poor quality oil (e.g. water or dirt in oil, used oil)
- Lack of lubrication (blocked oil nozzles)
- Very high mileage
- Corrosion
- Blocked or not working tensioners
- Poor running shafts (do not turn smoothly)
Note: The damage can be detected by a well-run chain tensioner or by a test measurement of the chain pitch.

- Misalignment between the sprockets
- Poorly running shafts (radial stroke)
- Chain not running in the guide
- Rails mis-mounted
- Damaged sprocket
