Why oil gade from Gas matters
This gas-to-liquids (GTL) base oil helps create engine oils that meet modern engine demands for greater performance, protection, efficiency, and cleansing. The GTL advantage is called Shell PurePlus Technology and is only found in fully synthetic Shell Helix Ultra motor oils.
Shell Helix Ultra 0W with PurePlus Technology contains fewer impurities than other synthetic oils, Shell claims. Its smooth protective layer reduces engine friction, providing up to 3.3 per cent greater fuel economy, and saving up to one tank of fuel during each oil drain.
The oil also resists evaporation loss, thanks to its stronger molecular bonds, so there is less need to top up and longer oil drains.In severe industry tests, Shell Helix Ultra 0W with PurePlus Technology delivered an average of 77 per cent better piston deposit protection, Shells states, which greatly exceeds industry standard requirements.
