Brake discs and wheel speed sensors in ABS systems

The advent of the anti-lock braking system (ABS) made it possible to improve safety during critical braking situations. Different road conditions (wet and slippery roads, for example) or suddenly appearing obstacles caused the wheels of vehicles without ABS to lock up and skid during emergency braking.
